Hockey Jersey Artwork Guide

CUSTOM HOCKEY ยท TEAM PROJECTS

Hockey Jersey Artwork Guide

Practical buying guidance for hockey teams, clubs and apparel brands.

Key takeaways

  • Supply artwork you have rights to use.
  • Keep editable source files when available.
  • Identify colors and placements clearly.
  • Approve all garment views.
  • Lock one final file version.

Build an artwork handoff folder

Separate logos, sponsor assets, color references and roster data. Use descriptive filenames and identify the current version. If you only have a raster image, send the best original file rather than enlarging a small screenshot; increasing pixel dimensions does not recreate missing detail.

Define placements and priorities

State which mark is the primary crest, which are sponsors, and where names and numbers belong. Specify whether dimensions are fixed or should be proposed for review. Keep critical text clear of seams and explain any design that intentionally crosses a panel boundary.

Approve a complete proof

Review front, back and sleeves, the intended collar, the selected cut and every colorway. Check numbers for contrast and names for exact spelling. When a proof changes, record what changed and ensure the final roster still matches it. Approve the design and the production specification as related but separate records.

Buyer checklist

File or detail What to include
Logos Editable source where available; approved version
Colors Named reference and any physical sample requirement
Placements Front, back, sleeves and relevant dimensions
Roster Exact names, numbers, sizes, cuts and quantities
Rights Confirmation that supplied artwork is authorized
Version Date or revision identifier and final approver

Common mistakes

  • Sending a screenshot as the only logo file.
  • Mixing old and new sponsor artwork.
  • Approving only the front view.

Questions before you start

Must every logo be vector artwork?

Editable vector files are useful for many designs, but the right format depends on the artwork and process. Send your best original and ask for review.

Can you recreate a team trademark?

Only supply or request artwork you are authorized to use. Do not assume third-party marks are available for reproduction.

Will the screen proof guarantee color?

No. Screens and textiles differ; discuss physical approval when exact color matters.

What if a player name changes?

Submit a clearly revised roster and request confirmation before production release.

Should fonts be included?

Provide usable font information or outlined text where appropriate, with the necessary rights.
